The Ministry cuts the price of 3,025 household goods to reduce living costs

The Commerce Department cuts household goods costs as the Covid-19 crisis shrinks people’s spending power nationwide.

Minister Jurin Laksanawisit said 3,025 consumer products have now been discounted by up to 68 per cent.

Previous discounts, on April 16, covered only 72 products, while the scale of these price cuts was unprecedented.

The less expensive merchandise will be available until June 30.

Companies collaborating in the discounts include 18 rice brands, 20 consumer product makers, and 13 malls.

“I would like to thank the private firms who have cooperated with the Commerce Ministry. The Department of Internal Trade estimates that both discounts, starting from April 16 to June 30, will cut a total of Bt1 billion off the cost of living for Thai people,” Jurin said.
